Surfaces and Strategies PHO703 Week 11: Independent reflection

The feedback that I have received thus far on this module has been positive and some of the advice that I have been given by Laura N has been extremely useful, one of the ideas that I am considering implementing is the use of objects, surfaces, textures and other things of cultural significance form the house hold of my subjects being used as backing our textures to give the work in progress portfolio a bit more varied and further embed the different artefacts that I deem to be of cultural relevance.

unfortunately some of the opportunities to interact with my tutor were missed due to my pre planned, and much needed vacation and the poor internet access in my hotel whilst int his location however I have really found the interactions and feedback to be of great benefit to me! Learning about Ethnography and looking at the work and locations used by other creative who have work that contains cultural influences enabled me to get a better understanding of the area in which my work fits in to the art world.

Based on my conversations with Laura I think that the main consideration and change for my assignment moving forward will be the inclusion of details, as I perceive these things to be very important in painting the overall picture of each of my subjects the shared visual elements and what they signify is vitally important.

as part of the ongoing research for this course I am reading David Olusoga’s Black And British a Forgotten History this book is full of information that I am finding beneficial and interesting discussions on the history of people from the diaspora when moving to and acclimatising to life in the UK.91it6TEBHlL
